For you people who have played or know what D&D is, I play 2nd edition. I have been trying to modernize it by putting some guns into my campain; my friend, maramu, has helped make a chart of guns and ammo that I can use. This is good, but the problem starts when the mage class only get 1d4 hp and most of the weapons do no less than that cause its the lowest dice. So the mage class could die in 2-3 hits from any weapon at low level, this is bad cause the campain is a low level one and I can't have the party mages dieing. I could increase the hp of all the other classes but barbarians have 1d12 hp and the next one up is 1d20 which is too much. I don't want to raise the levels of the characters cause then they would be too strong. If anybody can think of a way to keep the party mage alive with out making anybody too strong plz tell me.
